After the earthquake that hit the coastal region of Ecuador in 2016, Epic Church started a partnership with a local church on the island of Muisne, one of the places where the devastation was most significant. After helping with training and emergency response, our next goal was to help them rebuild 11 of the homes that were partially or completely destroyed. For that, we took on the challenge of raising $66,000 to bring back hope and show the love of Jesus to these families who are in such deep need. Because of the overwhelming generosity of so many, we were actually able to raise $72,126.69 to rebuild 12 homes!
Epic’s focus for this past summer was Living out God’s love to our community, through our partnership with Miami Village Church and the City of South Bend. Therefore, we worked together on projects to improve the conditions of their buildings, and help to further the work of the City of South Bend in the area. It was a wonderful time to serve, share and enjoy the summer outside.
Epic Church is excited to continue our partnership with Compassion International in Chillanes, Ecuador. We have sponsored almost 100 children over the past 3 years, and we are looking forward to sponsoring at least 15 more in the next couple of months! Compassion International has given Epic the opportunity to impact an entire city by planting churches, supplying food and shelter, providing medical care, and supporting educational programs for those living in extreme poverty. We not only get to impact the community at large, but we get to form personal relationships with the children we sponsor.
Join us in helping bring Jesus’ light to the world!

Director of Student Ministry
Sabrina Engbrecht serves as Director of Epic Church’s Student Ministry together with her husband, Aaron. Sabrina and Aaron view Student Ministry as an opportunity to build relationships with students and guide them in the life transformation of knowing Jesus personally.
Her goal as Director of Student Ministry is to equip and empower students and volunteers to use their God-given gifts. This flows directly out of Epic’s mission statement – Living In + Living Out God’s Love.
She first came to Epic in 2010 on an invitation from her sister, Karleen, who is now Epic’s Executive Director. Sabrina became plugged in right away, and it truly has become home for her.
Sabrina loves getting to know the stories of others. She believes that each individual has areas of gifting, and she enjoys helping others see how their individual gifts can join in with others in the pursuit of a larger mission. At Epic, that mission is tangibly practiced by taking action and not leaving it just at words alone.
Sabrina was born and raised overseas as her parents were missionaries in South American. She has been married to Aaron for 3 years, and they live in Bremen, Indiana. Sabrina has experience with students through her work as a bilingual educator in the public school system for five years. She now works as a freelance Spanish translator.

Director of Student Ministry
Aaron Engbrecht serves as Director of Epic Church’s Student Ministry together with his wife, Sabrina. Together, they focus on pouring into leaders and students and taking every opportunity to learn the stories of other people and grow in Christ together.
Aaron loves serving at Epic in large part for the way the Epic family seeks to fulfill the church mission statement – Living In + Living Out God’s Love – through tangible initiatives such as SOS (Summer of Service) Sunday, packing Thanksgiving boxes and engaging others in conversation each Sunday.
Aaron is a business teacher at Tippecanoe Valley High School during the school year, and he brings that experience of working with teens every day to his ministry at Epic.
Aaron and Sabrina live in Bremen, Indiana. Along with weekly ministry, they are excited about the opportunities in Student Ministry to show God’s love through mission trips, service opportunities and local events.

Director of Children's Ministry
Ministry isn’t just a theory or set of traditions to Josh Schwartz. It’s about sharing life with people and helping them see Jesus. Josh has a passion for children’s ministry specifically.
As Director of Epic’s Children’s Ministry, Josh’s main goal is to point every kid to Jesus. Part of that is helping them learn how to talk about Jesus and incorporate Biblical teachings into everyday life. He also manages and trains Children’s Ministry volunteers.
"I love seeing a kid make a Jesus connection from a Bible story and then realize how that will actually change something specific they are going to do the next week," says Josh. "I hope more than anything, that kids see how Jesus ACTUALLY changes lives.... not just theoretically. This will then spark a desire to begin talking about him naturally, rather than keeping that to themselves."
Josh and his wife, Stacy, have been married nine years and have three wonderful children – Cambria, Emerson, and Brylee – and a fourth child on the way.
