The Joy of Serving
For nearly seven years, Larry Edler has served at Epic Church as the facility and grounds supervisor. Most of what Larry does is behind-the-scenes, but it makes a big impact.
“You know what?” Larry said. “Facility and grounds doesn’t really get noticed. But it makes people happy when they arrive.”
The moment you meet Larry, you can tell that he likes bringing happiness and joy to others. His smile and penchant for cracking jokes make it hard to be in a bad mood around him. Many people would find it odd that so much joy could come from jobs that most wouldn’t care to do. But Larry doesn’t see it like that.
“I like helping people,” he said. “I like being involved.”
“Being involved” will be the focus of two upcoming gatherings on February 26 and March 5. Called EpiConnect, these Sunday morning gatherings will be entirely focused on connecting people at Epic Church to opportunities for them to jump in. Through Growth Groups, ministry teams and other service opportunities, every person can find something that connects with their own gifts and interests.
We believe that everyone has something to offer. I Peter 4:10 says, “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” You have something special to offer. We’d like to help you utilize it.
At Epic Church, we also believe that being involved in service is something for both Christ-followers and those who are not Christ-followers. This isn’t a “churchy” thing, it’s a people thing. There’s joy in using our own gifts and interests to help others.
Whether you’ve been coming to Epic Church for years, or you’ve never walked through our doors before, you’re welcome here. We believe there are opportunities for everyone to use their gifts and interests in service. If you are a first-time visitor, visit our website for helpful information about our Sunday morning gatherings.
We invite everyone to come with us on this journey. If you’d like to learn more about how you can get involved in service opportunities here at Epic, join us for EpiConnect. We’d love to hear your story, and we want to help connect you to your calling. Larry said it best himself…
“Get involved. It’s very rewarding.”
