Our Story:  The History of Epic Church

Our Roots

In August 2008, Jeremy & Ann LeVan (along with their 2-year-old daughter) sold their home near Milwaukee and moved in with both of their parents in Michiana, to follow a dream of starting a new church.

Jeremy & Ann began meeting and doing life with people in the Mishawaka community.  As Jeremy was meeting people and praying for the community, the words, Living In and Living Out God’s Love kept coming to his mind.  This soon became a life calling, as they believed that many in the South Bend & Mishawaka communities needed to discover that they have a God who loves them no matter what.  In other words, we don’t have to have it all together or have it all figured out, because we have a God that still loves us.  He’s not done with us yet and no matter where we’re at in our journey, no matter how many times we’ve blown it in life, God still loves us and has a desire to do extraordinary things in us and through us.

With the help of 5 partnering churches (which generously gave of their money and their people) along with the help from many others, the dream for starting Epic Church began to build momentum.  In the summer of 2009, many of the people interested in helping start Epic began living out Gods love by praying for the community and finding ways to help serve and meet needs.

In October 2009, with 34 adults and their children, Epic started holding Worship gatherings on Sunday nights at a local church.   The focus of these gatherings was to instill the vision & values that God has for us as a church.

On March 7th, 2010, Epic Church held its very first public worship gathering on a Sunday Morning at Meadows Edge Elementary School, with nearly 200 people in attendance.  Since then, we have continued to serve the community and each other.

We grew!

In April 2011, Epic moved to its current location on Harrison Street after doing significant renovations to the building.  We handed out gifts to our new neighbors and prayed that God would open doors in the hearts and lives of people in our community.  On April 17th of that year we opened our doors to the public and had 250+ in attendance with several taking their next steps to God and some committing to become Christ Followers.

In February 2012, we began holding two Sunday morning worship gatherings due to a steady increase in attendance.

The Future is Bright.

As we continue we are discovering more of God’s love and plan for our lives through the study and tangible expression of His Word.  We’ve been excited to have several new people join with us in journey and some have made commitments to become Followers of Jesus along the way.

While the History of Epic Church is brief, we believe that our future is bright and we would invite you to come and see for yourself, as we seek to Live In and Live Out God’s Love together.
